Our mission is to attract, retain and promote to partnership and leadership outstanding lawyers who reflect the global marketplace and communities that we serve. We work to accomplish our mission by:

Creating and supporting pipeline programs, including the Sidley Prelaw Scholars Program (;

Recruiting, mentoring, and investing in the development of a diverse group of summer associates and practicing lawyers;

Supporting strategic business development initiatives and mentoring programs for all lawyers, including women lawyers and lawyers of diverse backgrounds;

Collaborating with clients to ensure the development of diverse and inclusive client-service teams; and

Establishing well-being resources and career development programs to support all our lawyers.

Sidley has a number of internal affinity groups that serve as a built-in community of support and networking opportunity for our lawyers. These include groups for firm lawyers who identify as LGBTQ+, Hispanic/Latinx, Black/African American, Asian American and Pacific Islander, women of color, and lawyers with disabilities and those interested in workplace disability issues.  

Sidley’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee and local Associates Diversity Committees organize internal and external networking events, social events, community service and educational activities that allow diverse associates to connect to various parts of the firm.

In addition, the firm’s SidleyWomen committee holds regular events that provide educational and networking opportunities for our women lawyers.
