Developing and enhancing the skills and advancing the careers of our associates is a high priority. Weil’s Professional Development program strives to offer a beneficial and rewarding professional experience for every associate. We provide comprehensive training, mentoring and career guidance. The program is administered by our Professional Development Committee, comprised of partners, counsel and associates, as well as Professional Development staff who focus exclusively on our associates’ professional growth. Incoming associates will have numerous opportunities to develop informal mentoring relationships with Partners, Counsel and other associates. We supplement these opportunities with a formal mentoring program. As part of the formal program, all associates are paired with both an associate and a partner who serve as their mentors at Weil. As a part of Weil’s mentoring program, the firm sponsors mentoring-related events throughout the year, including an annual Mentoring Week. We place a high priority on professional training and support, both formalized and on-the-job. First year associates begin their career with Weil by participating in a week of general orientation and training programs focused on topics including professional ethics, client service. During this week, associates also participate in department-specific orientation programs designed to provide them with all the substantive information they will need to get careers off to a promising start. The firm offers in-house training programs and workshops throughout the year, including Litigation Trial Skills, Team Leadership and Project Management, and Business Development. Our associates may supplement our in-house trainings with programs offered by various outside providers.
