For entry-level associates, the firm pays relocation expenses. Entry-level associates also receive payment of a bar review course and exam fees and a $10,000 stipend to cover living costs during the exam. In addition, an interest-free loan is available.

Our salary determinations are not lock-step; they are based upon merit, considering an individual's total contribution to the Firm and its clients, individual professional development and effectiveness. Jones Day's compensation structure does not incorporate hours-based bonuses.

In the case of a newly born child, the Firm will provide 10 weeks of paid family leave to parents and, with approval, up to an additional 6 weeks of unpaid leave. This leave is provided to all parents, regardless of caregiver status.
In the case of a newly adopted child, the Firm provides all parents 18 weeks of paid family leave and six weeks of unpaid family leave.
For birth parents, the Firm also provides 8 weeks of paid disability leave under the Firm’s Short Term Disability policy.
For lawyers who have a child with a serious illness or medical condition which necessitates the lawyer’s absence from the office to care for the child, the Firm also provides 4 weeks of paid family leave.
