NON - DISCRIMINATION POLICY |
| Non-Discrimination: |
| Kaye Scholer hires lawyers and staff based on ability alone. We provide equal employment opportunities and prohibit discrimination on the basis of age, creed, disability, gender, national origin, marital status, race, religion, sexual orientation, (see NARRATIVE) |
NARRATIVE |
Our primary objective is to train our associates to become skilled lawyers. Our associates work with many different lawyers and clients on a wide variety of legal problems. Each department identifies the specific skills that a new associate needs to acquire and develops a structured program designed to provide those skills within the first few years. Because we are a regional office of about sixty attorneys, we combine the rich resources of a large firm with the informality and camaraderie of a smaller one. At Kaye Scholer we pride ourselves on the quality, diversity and excitement of our practice. Benjamin Kaye who started the firm in 1917, was a banking attorney who wrote not only the first article on federal income tax, but also a number of Broadway plays. We encourage diversity believing that the richer the mix of people, the stronger and more vital the firm. The firm's largest office is in New York. Los Angeles is the next largest office. We also have significant offices in Washinton D.C. and Chicago, and smaller offices in West Palm Beach, London, Frankfurt, and Shanghai. Kaye Scholer's clients and the matters we handle are similarly varied. Our clients range from the world's largest corporations and institutions to medium-sized and smaller companies and start-ups and individuals. Our practice runs the full gamut from the most sophisticated "megadeals" and "bet the company" major litigations of national and international scope, as well as smaller and mid-size transactions and litigations in which our more junior attorneys play a leading role. In Los Angeles, we have departments handling corporate, finance and entertainment, litigation, bankruptcy, real estate, and tax matters. Summer associates function as if they were full-time associates, and are integrated into the day-to-day work of the office. Our summer program is tailored to second-year law students primarily interested in litigation and corporate transactional work. Summer associates participate in client conferences, court proceedings, depositions and negotiations. We also provide a broad range of social activities, and offer additional opportunities to learn about our firm, our people and our practice. Kaye Scholer offers qualified candidates a dynamic and enriching large firm professional experience in a more comfortable, smaller-firm atmosphere. We invite you to meet and get to know us. Please log on to our web site at www.kayescholer.com, and click on to the Los Angeles summer program page.
NON-DISCRIMINATION POLICY (continued): veteran's status or any other protected category under federal, state or local law. |
